The internal security team is hiring a technically sharp, architecturally fluent specialist to own reference architecture documentation, OOTB baseline analysis, and customer-facing content production for the ServiceNow on ServiceNow (NoN) program and the broader Security & Risk Better Together narrative.
This is a maker role. The team defines the what — product strategy, use cases, integration decisions — and you translate that into clear, version-controlled architecture artifacts and compelling content that lands with CISOs and practitioners alike.
Core Responsibilities
Reference Architecture Documentation
- Draft product connection diagrams from architecture decisions provided by the team
- Maintain and version reference architecture artifacts across the NoN and Better Together portfolio
- Produce technical one-pagers for each mini reference architecture
- Ensure diagrams align with ServiceNow architectural frameworks and platform conventions
OOTB Re-Baseline Support
- Catalog current SSO customizations module by module (SIR, VR, IRM)
- Compare customizations against the OOTB baseline to identify configuration drift
- Flag and document divergence points with enough detail for engineering and leadership review
- Maintain a living delta log as the baseline evolves across releases
Customer-Facing Content Production
- Draft raw narratives from reference architectures for use in customer and executive engagements
- Build first-pass one-pagers for the NoN team on new or updated architectures
- Adapt existing materials for distinct audiences: CISO-facing vs. practitioner-facing
- Maintain a versioned content library of approved narratives, diagrams, and talking points
Why This Role
The NoN program is ServiceNow's internal proof point for the Security & Risk portfolio — what the company itself uses, configured the way it should be used, producing outcomes the field can sell against. The architecture and content you produce here directly informs how the company positions its own products externally.
You will work close to product, close to the field, and close to the customer conversation. Your diagrams will be in CISO briefings. Your one-pagers will be in the hands of practitioners. The work is visible and the impact is measurable.
Required
- 3+ years working with enterprise security platforms in an architecture, pre-sales engineering, or technical consulting capacity
- Demonstrated ability to translate architectural concepts and verbal/written direction into clean, publishable diagrams
- Proficiency with diagramming tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, draw.io, or equivalent
- Working knowledge of SIR, VR, and/or IRM modules — you understand the data model, not just the marketing slides
- Strong written communication skills; you can write for a CISO and then rewrite the same content for a SOC analyst
- Comfort operating with directional input — you ask clarifying questions early and produce clean first drafts, not perfect ones
Strongly Preferred
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) or Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) — Security, Risk, or related track
- ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA) or equivalent architectural credential — this materially accelerates your time to value in this role
- Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK, NIST CSF, or similar security frameworks as they relate to platform use case design
- Experience supporting a Customer Zero, lighthouse, or reference customer program
- Background in GTM, field enablement, or product marketing in a security or risk technology context
How You Work
- You operate with low overhead. The team gives you architecture decisions, audience context, and a deadline — you return versioned artifacts and drafts. You flag ambiguity early, version everything, and keep a clean content library without being asked.
- You understand that a diagram used in a CISO briefing and one used to onboard an implementation partner serve different masters, and you adjust accordingly. You take direction well and give back work that's ready to use, not ready to be reworked.
