About The Work

ServiceNow is currently seeking a Senior Technical Curriculum Developer as a contingent worker responsible for creating effective, technically rigorous training content across media to enable customers and partners to deploy and use the ServiceNow platform.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical aptitude with instructional design expertise. You are comfortable configuring ServiceNow instances, writing scripts, troubleshooting lab environments, and translating complex technical documentation into learner-friendly materials. You bring hands-on experience in a SaaS environment and a passion for creating best-in-class content that empowers learners to maximize their understanding and value of the ServiceNow platform.

This is a contingent worker role with an expedited onboarding period. The selected candidate will be expected to contribute productively within the first 3-4 weeks, bringing proven technical and instructional design skills from day one. This is not a role where foundational skills will be developed on the job — we need someone who can hit the ground running and deliver quality technical curriculum immediately.

What You Get to Do in This Role

Technical Content Development

  • Serve as a technical SME on assigned products — diving deep into platform capabilities, configurations, and architecture to develop authoritative training content.
  • Create and maintain a diverse range of technically rigorous learning materials: Instructor-Led Training (ILT), On Demand courses, Simulators, interactive modules, video content, and job aids.
  • Convert complex technical product documentation into clear, learner-friendly courseware with real-world, use-case-based examples and guided lab exercises.
  • Design, build, and configure sandbox (lab) environments in Cloud Labs, including instance configuration, plugin activation, data package setup, and environment troubleshooting for each release.
  • Utilize database knowledge to generate realistic data sets and scenarios for hands-on labs and demonstrations that reflect real-life implementation of use cases.
  • Write and maintain scripts and configurations within ServiceNow instances to support lab exercises, demos, and courseware functionality.
  • Develop training content for Generative AI and Agentic AI capabilities on the ServiceNow platform.
  • Create assessments including knowledge checks, performance assessments, certification exams, and credentialing materials that meet quality standards and can withstand legal review.

Curriculum Design & Quality

  • Actively participate in pre-release planning to investigate, test, and discuss the latest release changes across multiple product portfolios.
  • Write clear and concise chapter narratives grounded in technical accuracy and instructional design best practices.
  • Continuously assess learning materials to identify gaps, technical inaccuracies, or areas for improvement and develop innovative solutions.
  • Assist with content testing and quality assurance to ensure accuracy and proper functionality within ServiceNow University.
  • Leverage AI tooling (including Claude and ServiceNow-approved AI tools) as a support tool for content development while applying critical thinking to validate outputs.

Collaboration & Project Management

  • Act as a collaborative team player, partnering with course owners, instructors, cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to develop course specifications and gather content.
  • Demonstrate project management skills across multiple courses: requirements gathering, scope development, scheduling, updating project plans, metadata tagging, and tracking deliverables.
  • Mentor junior team members on technical content development, lab configuration, and instructional design practices.
  • Classify and collect course survey data to distribute course owners or simulator teams for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Given the contingent nature of this role and the expectation of immediate contribution, candidates must demonstrate proficiency — not just familiarity — in the required skills below.
  • Background in a Technical Support role or hands-on platform administration experience.
  • Experience with ServiceNow platform or similar enterprise SaaS platforms (ITSM, ITOM, CMDB, Discovery, Service Mapping).
  • Experience with Cloud Labs or similar lab provisioning and management environments.
  • Industry certifications in instructional design, curriculum development, performance improvement, project management, or relevant technical domains.
  • Experience with content management platforms such as Inkling.
  • Familiarity with Generative AI and Agentic AI concepts and their application in enterprise software training.
  • Experience leveraging AI to automate workflows, analyze insights, or integrate AI-driven approaches into content development processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Computer Science, or a related field, paired with 5–8 years of direct experience. A Master's degree is preferred but can be substituted with equivalent hands-on experience and industry certifications.

Required — Technical Skills

  • Intermediate to advanced software development skills: ability to write scripts, configure instances, and automate workflows within a SaaS platform environment.
  • Advanced ability to create, configure, and troubleshoot sandbox/lab environments — including instance setup, plugin management, data package configuration, and environment debugging.
  • Working knowledge of databases: ability to query, generate, and manipulate data to build realistic lab scenarios and demonstrations.
  • Networking fundamentals: understanding of protocols, connectivity, and how they relate to SaaS platform configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills: ability to confidently research, diagnose, and resolve issues within sandbox environments and training instances.
  • Experience working in a SaaS (Software as a Service) environment.

Required — Curriculum Development

  • 5+ years of experience building education curriculum and content with strong instructional design principles.
  • 4+ years of experience in customer-facing education development projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to become a technical SME on products and translate complex technical documentation into effective learning materials.
  • Understanding of adult learning theories and methodologies, with the ability to apply them across diverse delivery formats.
  • Proficiency in eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Rise, Captivate) and multimedia development tools (e.g., Camtasia, SnagIt, ScreenFlow).
  • Experience with video creation, editing, branding updates, and multimedia production for training content.
  • Experience in rapid development and quick turnaround of training deliverables.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience incorporating measurement and assessments into learning programs.

Required — Project Management & Other

  • Proven ability to manage scope, gather requirements, track timelines, and drive results across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Working knowledge of Agile practices and software delivery lifecycle.
  • Ability to think critically while engaging with AI as a support tool — experience with Claude or similar AI tools for content development workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and consult with stakeholders, providing options with pros, cons, and risks for training and adoption-related decisions.
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in instructional design, education, or organizational development; or equivalent experience.
  • High level of flexibility, creativity, and dependability. Ability to engage as part of a global team across multiple time zones.
